WWII ~ Attack on USS Franklin 19 Mar 1945

Heavily damaged by two 500lb Japanese bombs on 19 March 1945, the carrier, USS Franklin survived the attack 50 miles off the Japanese coast.  She made her way to New York via the Panama Canal where she was repaired.
