If you have ties to England and Scotland, at least some of your ancestral families are
listed in the book, "The Genealogy of the Existing British Peerage by Edmund Lodge.
It is always interesting to see the family arms and crests that were used by these ancestral families.
Folks at that time achieved some of their status by prominently displaying them in their homes, on letter head, on dishes and of course on banners in their manors and castles.
Today, we see people using the status symbol graphics on clothing lines, the soles of shoes and in recognizable design patterns.
Once again thanks goes to Google Books for putting this tome online for us to read and enjoy.
