Researching my ancestral lineages has turned up one fact that I didn’t expect. Several great grandfathers were ranking officers in the British Military and along with their sons and grandsons of equal or greater rank, served the Queen in India.
Unfortunately, the trip to India was one way for all but one of them as they died there not in battle but by disease.
One of my great granduncles as Lieutenant Colonel Commandant William Logie in the Bengal Army. Military rank and even his marriage to the General’s daughter, couldn’t save him from destruction by a microbe.
