We always have interest in the locations where our ancestors live. William
Anderson, one of my early American ancestors settled far to the west in Indian lands on the North Fork of the Potomac in what is now Hampshire County, West Virginia.
When grandpa Anderson was alive, his home was in Virginia, but like many of the original colonies and states, the boundaries were redrawn and some of the original acreage in them eventually ended up in another state or at least in a different county.
I found the background information about Hampshire County on Google Books in Hu Maxwell and Howard Llewellyn Swishers book, “History of Hampshire County, West Virginia, From its Earliest Settlement to the Present”. Thanks Google books!
