One of my favorite genealogy research destinations is Plymouth, Massachusetts both because so many of my ancestors lived there and because there are so many assets in the area that bring history to life.
There is never enough time to do everything I want to do while in Plymouth. I think I’d have to live there for several years dedicating almost every day to research and visits to cemeteries, libraries and historical sites to touch them all once. That wouldn’t be enough, but it would be a start.
Some of our children have had the opportunity to fly cross country and squeeze a few hours out of their busy business trips to visit Plymouth. They call while walking though Plimouth Village or through Burial Hill. Their audible word pictures bring the scenes back into clear focus in my mind.
All of us have enjoyed talking to our ancestors in Plimouth Village. The cast does an excellent job staying in character event though they know the visitors often speak a little like school children during the interactions. I’m surprised they can keep a straight face at times.
If you get a chance, drop in and say hello to the residents in Plimouth. I’m sure that any of my grandparents there would enjoy seeing you and your families.
