Portuguese Genealogy Words ~ FamilySearch Wiki

The FamilySearch Wiki has rapid risen to the ‘go-to’ site for a large number of genealogical researchers.  Its articles are replete with probably more genealogy research links and aids than is found anywhere else on the web.

A good example of that statement is found in the Portuguese Genealogical Word List article.

The article starts with an introduction to the language and points out some basic understanding of character values in it.



The article explains and shows their usage.




Every genealogist wants to know the spelling and application of key words that are found in genealogy related documents and articles.   The wiki article provides them in Portuguese and English.




Understanding the words for number is essential in genealogy research.




As are dates and time.




The wiki article includes a substantial list of common words in Portuguese with their English equivalent.
