Finding information about our early Maine ancestors can be an adventure at times.
Mine were mostly trappers and hunters who weren’t prone to being in locations where records were created about them.
In most cases, I’ve found them through various family histories, Revolutionary War records and early Massachusetts records.
Their stories are usually sparse on detail other than short sentences like, “He was a hunter in the back woods of Maine.”
Fortunately, researchers like me have access to the books, “The Main Historical and Genealogical Recorder” In this case well look at Volume 9 which is online thanks to Google Books.
