Many of my friends are of Italian descent. When they ask me where they should start looking for records about their ancestors, I point them to the FamilySearch Wiki article “Italy”.
The article and sub-articles are full of research tips and links to sites and online digital collections that will help them find their family.
The article lists the regions in Italy with links to articles about each of them as well as to research tools that help us find and obtain genealogical documents.
It also includes links to the Italy records collections that have been indexed and reside on FamilySearch.
When you click on the link to any of the regions, you are taken to the article about the region on the wiki.
If you too are looking for Italian ancestors or ancestors from almost anywhere else in the world, be sure to stop by the wiki at the start of your research and let it help you be successful in your ancestral quest.
