Ancestors Home Quarantined with Chicken Pox

Many fifty+ folks find themselves covered with painful sores causing them to wonder about the cause of their affliction.   Shingles are caused by the same virus as chicken pox.  If you had pox when you were younger, the virus is still in your body and when your body is run down it takes advantage of that weakness to bloom into painful, long lasting sores.

I recently found a newspaper article noting that my grandparents and their family were quarantined to their home due to an outbreak of chicken pox in the family.

Now that I think of it, I remember grandpa suffering from shingles on more than one occasion.  Unfortunately, now that I’m a grandpa, I’ve also suffered from them several times.

Just like the TV advertisement says, “I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.”.  Let’s hope you have better fortune and avoid that particular malady in your life.

What other diseases and physical weaknesses have you identified in the lives of your ancestors?  Did you inherit any of the issues?  Have you passed them down to your descendants?
