  	Helen Bennett Colburn Obituary Helen (DeeDee) Colburn was born September 20, 1921 at Simeon, NE. DeeDee passed away January 7, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alberta Bennett; brothers, Richard and Jack; sister, Pauline Cramer; son, Richard Lynn Colburn; great grandson, Thomas Michael Savard and husband, Lynn. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Bennett and wife Linda of Arizona; daughter, Jeanne and husband Denny Doolittle of Nikiski, AK; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Julie Colburn Simon and husband Curt and their daughter Molly of Omaha, NE; Lyn Doolittle Palmer and husband David and their children Christian, Paige, Scott, Catie, Toni and Emily of Tucson, AZ; Tom Doolittle and wife Leslie and their children Kieran and Sam of Colorado Springs; Carol Doolittle Savard and husband Mike and their children Grace and Elizabeth of Tucson; the Bennett and Harms families and a host of friends in Valentine. DeeDee grew up on the family ranch south of Valentine. She loved riding horses and following her big brother Richard around like a shadow. She met Lynn in high school and they later married September 26, 1941. DeeDee loved her yard, taking special care of her flowers and her homemade bread was the best. She and Lynn spent many winters in Florida with her brother Richard and wife Betty. She was an avid fisherman and was always happy to out-fish Lynn. They enjoyed spending many hours in their motor home at Merritt Dam with friends. She was a life-time member of the Valentine Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be sent to the Valentine Presbyterian Church. Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Assembly of God Church in Valentine with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Holmes Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
