Elza Mulford, 71, whose death was briefly noted in the Saturday issue
of the Times was found dead on the porch of his home at
10a.m.Saturday.
As was his custom, he went to Middleport Friday evening with
neighbors and apparently collapsed and died on his porch after
returning home.
He was a native of Cheshire twp., where he was born on Dec
30,1886, the son of the late Enos and Sophornia Yeauger Mulford. He
was one of 11 children born to that union and the following brothers
and sisters survive. Mrs. Elza Wiggins, Mrs. Garnet
Folden, Stanley, Clinton and Clarence, all of Columbus. Mrs. Edith
Thomas and and Mrs. Jacob Schuler both of Pomeroy and Mrs. Gus Pach of
Chillicothe. A sister Mrs. Nora Kennedy, died a year ago.
His marriage to the former Lona Darst took place at the home of
Squire Boice at Kyger on Feb 9,1906,and she preceded him in death on
Aug 8,1949. He was also preceded by a son, Gayland who was killed in a
highway accident near Addison when a tobacco truck turned over on
Dec 15,1926.
Two children who survive are Dale Mulford and Mrs. Fred (Gail)
Sisson, both of Cheshire. Other survivors are eight grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held at the Old Kyger church at 2p.m.
today. Rev.C.J.Lemley officiated and burial followed in Gravel Hill
cemetery under the direction of Miller's Home for Funerals.
