- He inherited the original Thomas Burgess ( "The Pilgrim") house from his grandfather Benjamin Burgess in 1863 , he sold it to Mr. Scott ,who in turn sold it to Henry W Burgess the son of Anson Burgess and brother of grandfather Benjamin. This house was originally passed on to Thomas' son Jacob, Jacob Jr, Zaccheus, Elisha, Benjamin ( he sold it to Mr. Scott - this Benjamin’s daughter Hepzibah Burgess married Alanson Abbe and had Benjamin Burgess Abbe, the inheritor: Henry W Burgess (above) purchased from Mr. Scott , sold it to Mr. John Knowlton, Mr. Knowlton sold it back to Benjamin.
