      not listed on 1880 census in Nebraska.

    • C.W. was born Dec. 9, 1849, in Mason, Ohio. Nellie was born Aug 9, 1855, in Missouri. They were married Aug. 18, 1877. The Bennetts had eight children, four dying in infancy, and Josephine, Minnie Rowley, Maude Williams and Charles C. Josephine died leaving three small children.

      Charles C. "Charlie" moved with his parents from Kansas to Nebraska in 1885. They came by covered wagon with the J. B. Lord and G. M. Davis families and brought 300 head of cattle with them. They were on the road four months arriving at Boardman Springs in early August. The herd was held in that vicinity while log houses were built and hay made for the winter. The Bennetts and Lords remained in the Simeon community for the remainder of their lives.

      With true pioneer spirit, they were helpful in times of sickness and death. C. W. prepared the bodies for burial while Lord made the caskets. Nellie had four years of nurses trainng before her marriage. She devoted 51 years of this service to the community, she afficiated at the birth of 121 babies without the help of a physician.

      C.W. died Aug. 25, 1931 and is buried in the Simeon Cemetery. Nellie died April 8, 1945 in Sitka, Alaska and was buried there.
