  	Tribute to William Alexander Logie as reported in the local press: THE LATE SHERIFF LOGIE Yesterday, before entering on the business of the Appeal Court, Mr. Sheriff Bell made the following allusion to the sudden death of the late Mr. Sheriff Logie:---I would be doing injustice to my own feelings if I did not take the present opportunity of noticing that since this court last met one of the judges ordinary of this county has been removed from the sphere of his usefulness under circumstances of a very striking and solemn character. Mr. Logie, though not one of the Sheriffs-substitute of the Lower Ward, was in use for some years back to give, as you are all aware, very able assistance in our Small Debt Court in Glasgow. In his own district of the Middle Ward no man could have discharged the important duties entrusted to him more conscientiously or intelligently. His painfully sudden death, when upon his own bench, is one of those mysterious dispensations of Providence which, whilst it impresses us with awe, cannot fail at the same time to awaken a deep feeling of sympathy. In the ordinary course of nature, he might have been expected still to occupy for a considerable period the honourable position he held, but he has been removed from it in a moment by that Supreme will to which we must all bow. I earnestly trust that the blow may be mitigated in some way to her who is no longer to enjoy his companionship in the home he has left vacant, and for whom the whole community in which he dwelt feels so deeply. I shall not enlarge further at present on the deceased’s many good qualities; but it may be my duty afterwards to revert in Airdrie to this melancholy event. [2]
