| Notes |
- Notes from Lynn Hettrick:
Rebecca and one child (Gideon?) were still in Boston in1671.Sometime during that year she was taken to Court because she was in debt to William Salter. In that year, the Court of Assistants ordered her to pay her debts or go to prison. In October of that year she was placed in prison, where she and her child were to be found on 5 March 1671/72 when William Salter petitioned the Court for her release realizing that she could not pay him his due, and that she was in abject poverty.
In July 1672, Rebecca and her child were still in Boston, and still in a dilemma. She had been ordered to go to Virginia, to join her husband, but having no funds with which to pay her passage, she next submitted the following petition to the Court of Assistants of the Colony of the Massachusetts Bay on 7 September 1672 (Vol. III:223 of the printed records of that Court - 1928) [see Tyrrell book for petition, page16]
From the [petition] it is assumed that Rebecca and her little child did go to Virginia (Carolina) with Mr. (Isaac?) Bolard, and it is assumed she must have joined her husband there, and there died some time before 8 (5th mo.) 1675, when the deed she gave to her brother, Pilgrim Simpkins was finally recorded (Suffolk Deeds - Volume 9:223-6). Neither the Carolina records nor the Boston records show the date of Rebecca's death.
