Mr. William Renforth Stuart (Bep) Loggie, of King St., Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday, March 1, 2004, at the age of 93.
Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late Dr. W.S. and Mabel G. (Gould) Loggie. He was a former employee of both the Bank of Nova Scotia as well as his family business, the W.S. Loggie Co. Ltd. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Miramichi, and a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Canadian Army, Signal Corps.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Lally (Frank), of London, Ont.; one son, David Loggie (Marjorie), of Summerside, P.E.I.; one stepdaughter, Carolyn MacDonald (Greg), of Lower Sackville, N.S.; three stepsons, Greg Kelly (Elizabeth), of Miramichi; Charles Kelly, of Halifax, N.S.; and Eric Kelly (Kelly), of Moncton; seven grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian Leggatt; his second wife, Doris Loggie; and his third wife, Margaret Kelly; one son, Robert Loggie; and one sister, Molly Duchene.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Thursday. Members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, held a Veterans service at the funeral home on Thursday evening, led by Fred Matthews. The funeral service was held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Friday, March 5, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire. The organist was William Sweezey, who with members of St. Andrew’s United Church Choir, led the congregation with the hymns: Amazing Grace and Abide With Me.
The pallbearers were: Paul Loggie, Steven Loggie, Eric Kelly, Harold Parlee, Mike Leggatt and Eddie Leggatt.
Interment was in Riverside Vault, to await burial in the spring in Riverside Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone 773-3492. www.adamsfh.ca
