| Notes |
- David's claim at Bostwick Bar on the Stanislaus River in Calaveras County, California was known as the 'Ruby' Placer Mine.
His home in Copperopolis with the house, barn and fence was on Block 1 Lot 29 and the total valuation in 1870 was $100 for the property and $200 for the buildings.
The history of the Drew home, Block 1, Lot 29, (Main St.) Copperopolis, Calaveras, California.
1864 - Built by a Mr. Serovia
1870 - Mr. Delroyer was the owner
1873 - Owned by Kimball & Cutting
1881 - Owned by Mr. Zaiss who ran the Copperopolis Brewery
1900 - Owned by David Drew
The home is a frame building with a fieldstone room on the east side. Inside, there is a step down to the front room in the front of the the home (south). The old timers think the home was the original brewery in Copperopolis.
In 1900, David owned lots 28-29-30 on Block 1.
In 1910 the home was put in the name of Mrs. Helen Drew on Jan. 30th and then in the name of 'Miss' Florence Drew on Feb. 7th.
David and Helen had two horses named Billy and Sugar which were used for their carriage. At one point in time, the horses were spooked and ran away with Helen at the reins. Her daughter Helen Minnette and granddaughter Hattie Turner were in the wagon with her at the time. Fearing the buggy would tip over and hurt the baby, Minnette dropped Hattie into a large bush which broke the fall. Helen was able to get the dropped rein and stop the horses although a second family story says that the buggy turned over on its side but didn't hurt its passengers.
- (Medical):David had a stroke while sitting at the kitchen table. He died within a very short period of time.
