Nicholas Bennett Sr and Hist Descendants, fam hist book; parents marr F 29510 pt 1 p 2-51 WILLIAM BENNETT & EMMELINE CUDDY BENNET (VINA HEDGE 2nd) William Bennett was born March 17, 1817 in Warren County, Ohio and married Emmeline Cuddy December 20, 1838. Soon after his marriage he emmigrated to Indiana, becoming one of the pioneer settlers of Boone County. As the writer remembers "Uncle Billy", he was a large old man, with snow white hair and beard, and was noted for his strict religious principles, being a faithful member of the Methodist church at Mechanicsburg. Uncle Billy was known as a great singer, and in the pioneer days, when musical instruments were very rare and church organs unknown, he was depended upon to lead the singing at meeting and funerals for miles around. After the death of his wife Emmaline, some years after the war, William Bennett married Vina Hedge, of Boone County. William Bennett died Sept 3, 1898, his wife, Vina, having then been deceased several years. William at death was 81 years old. Taken from History & Record of Nicholas Bennett Sr. son of William Bennett and His Descendants. According to Mechanicsburg Cemetery Record, Catherine had a twin born with her, male, Almon L. Both died the same day and are buried in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery. They lived 1 mo 21 days. Robert, Martha, & John L. are also buried in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery. William moved to Boone County in fall of 1838, to Clinton Township
