Ira Bennett Obituary
Ira Bennett, son of Robert and Evaline S. Bennett, was born near Thorntown, Indiana September 26, 1897. His life was spent in and near this vicinity. He attended and was a graduate of the Jamestown school.
He was married to Zola Groover May 29, 1918. Three children (Evaline Lee, Richard Ira, and Billy Gene) blessed this home.
To his fellow men, Ira Bennett was truly a neighbor and friend. He was known for his industry, honesty, and integrity, willing to lend a helping hand when it was needed. Quoting from a man who was his neighbor for a number of years, "He was a man who wanted to live and let live, and it seemed more concerned about the other man than himself." Such a life as this is quite worthy of imitation.
To his family he was the kindly, loving husband and father, always thoughtful of their welfare and happiness, and at this going the loss is irreparable.
His life work was farming until the past 6 years he has been employed at the Prest-O-Lite, where he worked until six weeks ago. He was stricken; he never regained health; and passed out of this life March 17, 1935. Leaving to mourn his going -- the wife, three children, father, two brothers, Harold of Danville, Robert of Pittsboro, and many friends. In the going of this good man--
We will not say "Good Night" but in some brighter clime bid him "Good Morning".
