RICHARD AND HESTER WRIGHT'S CHILDREN
RICHARD WRIGHT of Plymouth married, about 1644, Hestere Cooke, daughter of Francis 1 Cooke, the Mayflower Passenger, and they had six children, Adam, John, Esther, Isaac, Samuel, Mary; but the birth records of only two of these children, Esther and Isaac, have been found.
Adam Wright 3, born about 1645, married, first, Sarah 3 Soule (John 2, George 1); married, second, Mehitable Barrows. He had six children by the first wife and four by the second wife.
John Wright 3, died before his father, without issue, and apparently unmarried.
Esther Wright 3, born at Plymouth, in 1649, married Ephraim Tinkham 3 (Rebecca 2 Brown, Peter 1), and had six children.
Isaac Wright 3, born at Plymouth, 26 August, 1652, died in 1675 or 1676, without issue, and apparently unmarried.
Samuel Wright 3, died before his father, without issue, and apparently unmarried.
Mary Wright 3, married-Price.
John Wright 3, in his will, dated 7 December, 1675, and probated 7 July, 1676, mentioned his father Richard Wright, his brothers Adam Wright 3, Isaac Wright 3 and Samuel Wright 3, and his sisters Esther and mary Wright.
A receipt by esther Wright 3 and Mary Wright 3, for a legacy from their brother John, shows that they were both unmarried on its date, 9 June, 1676. This receipt is of especial importance as no record of the date of marriage of Ephraim Tinkham and Esther Wright 3 has been found. Their daughter Marth (Tinkham 4) Soule was born about 1678, according to the age on her gravestone* at Middleborough, Mass., and was born before any of the other known children of Ephraim and Esther Tinkham.
As the estate of Isaac Wright 3 was settled 7 July, 1676, he died before that date, but after 7 December, 1675, when he was mentioned in his brother John's will.
Samuel Wright 3, mentioned in John's will, evidently died before his father's will was made, but no settlement of his estate has been found.
Richard Wright, the father, died at Plymouth, 9 June, 1691. In his will, made the day before he died, and printed in full in our fourth volume, he mentioned only his son Adam, his daughter Esther, and his widowed daughter Mary Price.
Hester 2 (Cooke) Wright, the mother, died after 8 June, 1666, when she signed an agreement of heirs† of her father, francis 1 Cooke, and probably before 7 December, 1675, the date of her son John's will.
We her print exhaustive abstratcts of all records relating to the estates of John Wright 3 and Isaac Wright 3, found on the Plymouth Colony Records. [2, 3]
