Don L. Morrill passed away at the age of 79, August 24, 2013 in American Fork, Utah of complications following a long struggle with leukemia.
He was born in Roosevelt, Utah on July 13, 1934 to Elmer Levon and Mildred Fern Allred Morrill and lived in Tridell, Utah until the age of 9 when his family moved to Orem, Utah. He was the second child, oldest son, of nine children. Siblings include Fern Morrill Wilkinson (Jay C.), Nora Morrill Creer (Glade), Mary Morrill Weaver (George), Elma Morrill Shipp (Clair), Ella Morrill Wilson (Richard), Kay Morrill (Vicki), Reva Morrill Kolts (Ralph), Lyn Morrill (Della).
In spite of a very difficult childhood he grew into a very special man with many skills and talents. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem and then joined the army to serve in the Korean War. He later attended BYU.
He married Margaret Ann Ashton in the Manti Temple and they had three daughters, Debbie Morrill Ashton, Rebecca Morrill Allen (Mark), and Tammie Morrill Cushing.
Don was a talented carpenter and spent many years working in that field. He spent many hours in his wood shop making doll furniture for his daughters and later, for his granddaughters.
He was a Highway Patrolman for 15 years before having to take a medical retirement due to injuries he received in the line of duty. He then went on to drive a school bus for the Alpine School District until he was diagnosed with leukemia.
He was a member of the LDS church and served valiantly in his many church callings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers Kay and Lyn. He is survived by his wife, his 6 sisters, his 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the American Fork Harbor third ward chapel, 600 South 100 West, American Fork on Thursday, August 29th at 11am. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 at the church prior to the service. Burial in American Fork Cemetery.
