    • Seth Drew saw continuous duty in the Revolutionary War. He was at the Battle of Lexington in 1775 as a minuteman from Kingston County and he later served with the 23rd Continental Infantry and the 2nd and 3rd Massachusetts Lines, attaining the rank of major by 1783. Drew was appointed an agent and superintendent of fortifications in 1808 when the Army Corps of Engineers began construction and rebuilding coastal defenses in anticipation of war with Great Britain. He was in charge of the works at the harbor of Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Gen. Rufus Putnam, stating that said Capt. Drew is entitled to a majority by reason of the promotion of Col. Greaton to Brigadier General, Jan. 7, 1783, and asking that he be appointed accordingly; advised in Council Jan. 29, 1783, that a warrant be made out for the promotion of said Drew.
