  	Iris Merrill Young Obituary IRIS MERRILL YOUNG passed away on 13 Apr 2011 in Tacoma, Washington. She was born 6 May 1929 in Clarkston, Utah to DeMar Merrill and Gwennie Clow Griffin. She attended school in Clarkston where her mother taught her for two years, and High School and college in Logan, Utah. While attending Utah State University, she met Carl Young. They were engaged while he served a mission and were married in the Logan Temple when he returned home. They have five children, Connie (Lee) Drew, DeMar (Patty) Young, Keith (Cindy) Young, Grant (Pat) Young and Carlene(Brian) Gray. They have been blessed with 18 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Iris and Carl made their home in American Fork where they raised their five children. Carl owned C.L Young appliance until he retired and turned it over to his son DeMar. Iris loved to sew and made clothes for her daughters and for herself. She also enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all her children and most of her grandchildren. She worked in several clothing stores when her children were in school. She had been active in the LDS Church, where she served in the Primary as a teacher and secretary, in the Young Women's presidency and as Relief Society President. She served as a name extractor for several years. Iris has been living with her daughter Carlene in Tacoma, Washington for the last seven years because of health issues. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl. A graveside service will be held on 23 Apr 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork Cemetery, where Iris will be interred.
