Opal Pearl Curry Parks, age 92, of Pasco, WA. (formerly of Everett, Elma, and Bickleton, WA. and Covington, IN.) passed away Oct. 9, 2009. She was born in Durbin, West Virginia on Nov. 9, 1916, to Loy and Clara (Mullenax) Curry. She was a graduate of Cleveland (Seattle) High School, and of Comptometer School in Seattle. Mom was the oldest of 10 children.

Through a young adult group at Seattle First Christian Church she met and married Dallas Parks in 1941, leaving a career at the Bon Marche to focus on home and family. She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She and Dallas were avid square dancers. After Dallas' death in 1971, she went to work at the Bank of Everett for 10 years.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jim, Blake, Ed, and Carl Curry; and sister Pauline Wade.

She is survived by her son, Donald Parks (Kathy); grandchildren, Stephanie Bradbury, Christopher Parks, and Kelly Parks; great grandchildren, Madeline, Josiah, and Grace Bradbury; and grandson-in law, Steve Bradbury, all of Pasco, WA. She is also survived by her brothers, Gene (Bernie) and Paul (Charlaine) Curry; sisters, Helen (Jim) White and Marjorie (Bill) Schorer; her beloved sister -in-law, Kay Curry; and many nieces and nephews.
Mom's membership in the Episcopal Church was of great comfort to her, and she is now at Home in the arms of Jesus.

Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1609 W. 10th Ave. Kennewick, Wa.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, 8601 Riverview Rd. Snohomish, WA.
