Notes for CLARA ISABELLE TIRRILL: Obituary:
Miss Belle Tirrill, aged 85, who for many years had charge of the Lodi Public Library and who for several years taught first and second grades in the Lodi school, died on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, at her home here after a brief illness. Funeral services were held on Friday at the Hamre Funeral Home.
Miss Tirrill was born on December 6, 1866 in the township of West Point, the daughter of Angeline Shaw and Frank Tirrill. At the age of seven she, with her parents moved to Lodi where she attended school. Upon high school graduation she attended Whitewater State Teachers College. She taught one year in Nebraska and 25 in Wisconsin.
Following her retirement from teaching she became Lodi librarian, a position she retired from 18 years ago. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps and the Lodi Methodist Church.
Surviving ar three nieces, Mrs. Walter Evert, Mrs. Cecil Cook, and Mrs. Robert H. Storie, all of Lodi. Her only sister, Mrs. Richard Collins, preceded her in death 28 years ago.
Reverend L. L. Litchfield officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Blanche Menes and Mrs. Esther Richards. Pall bearers were Walter Evert, Robert Storie, Cecil Cook, Ray Lichte, Burt Patton, and Robert Storie, Jr.
Burial was held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Attending the funeral from away were Mrs. Harvey Moore, Mrs. Adwell Hayseen, and Mrs. Charles Gardner, of Milwaukee; Mrs. Clifford Cramer and Mrs. Robert Storie, Jr., Madison; and Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Johnson, Marquette, Mich.
