- Norman Beall was the son of Fannie E. Beall.
He was a 1st Lieut. in the Elkhart, IN Co. E, 157th Indiana Volunteers during the Spanish American War when that unit was called up and mobilized from 26 Apr 1898 - 01 Nov 1898. He became acting company commander when the company captain was mustered out for illness.
During his working years, Norman was a fireman and later engineer for the Lake Shore Railroad, working and living in Chicago much of the time.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.
He died at Longcliff Hospital in Logansport, IN where he had been a patient for about three years. His funeral was held at the home of his mother, 418 North Second St, Elkhart. He was survived by his mother, his wife, and a brother, Harry Beall.
