    • Etta was born in 1872 at Hopkins, Mo. Moving with her parents to the Rapid City area when she was 12 years old. Hopkinsis in Nodaway County in northwestern Missouri. They came by covered wagon.

      Etta married Milo Morehouse in 1891. Milo was born at Hopkins, Mo in 1869. They lived in the Elm Springs area a few years then moved to the home place on Dry Creek near Meade County, and built their own home across TJE Creek, within three miles of the place Etta lived when she first came to South Dakota.

      Nine Children were born to this union: Frank 1892, a son who died at birth, Virgil 1896, Edna 1901, Julia 1906, Bertha 1910, Blanche 1913, and Lawrence 1915. The infant son is buried in Elk Vale Cemetery.

      In April 1919, Milo died after a long illness. Milo is buried in Elk Vale Cemetary. Etta raised her family alone with the help of grama Morehouse who lived nearby. Etta married Alfred Jacob, father of her daughter Blanche's husband Jack in 1935 and lived in Mitchell about a year before moving to the state Soldier's home at Hot Springs, S.D. where they had a private home on the grounds. Alfred died in 1951, and Etta moved into the home until she passed away on January 05,1968 at the age of 95. Alfred and Etta are buried in the Veteran's Cemetery at Hot Springs
