Dunedin Customs House

Dunedin Customs House

The Dunedin Customs House, designed by a local man, George Greenfield. The proportions are poor, the central section with pediment being too narrow for the wings, but the classical portico was popular, for it was near to a tram stop and one was able to take shelter under it and notice the name of Charles (Hook Gordon) Logie, the Collector of Customs, over the door. by: "Reed, A. The Customs House looks more attractive from this angle, with two of John Millar's handsome lamp posts and two of the early telegraph posts. On the left can be seen the Engine Station of the Volunteer Fire Brigade.
